Dana is a founding Auxiliary Unit, and one of three units in the Point Loma area. We meet on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the homes of our members. Membership is a happy mix; ranging from young mothers to professional women to recent retirees. Our meeting schedule and volunteer opportunities are ideal for busy women who are looking for ways to support Rady Children's Hospital and Health Center.
Our September kick-off meeting is often an outdoor dinner party or a themed event such as "Survivor Point Loma", or "Crazy t-shirt logos". During the holidays, we enjoy a progressive dinner that starts early enough to get everyone home in time for work the next day. We all enjoy an evening of Bunko, there's no better game for meeting and greeting everyone in attendance.
Our current major fundraiser is the annual Point Loma Garden Walk, Home Tour and Boutique, held in April. Work parties to create items for the boutique begin in February. The whole unit contributes to this event and it has become a local favorite. An elegant "Thank You Party" is held after the event for our homeowners, sponsors and the Craniofacial Department, who are the recipients of our funds.
Dana has created a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in which the members
socialize and work toward a common goal --- Children!
